The future of the Woodside Barracks

The Woodside Barracks in the Adelaide Hills is important to our community – economically, environmentally and historically. Next year would have marked its 100^th anniversary.

We now know the Government is selling off the Barracks, as part of the Defence divestment of real estate across the country.

So, where to from here? I expect the sale of the Barracks could take some years. In the meantime, I’m working hard to ensure the facilities being used by community groups will remain available.

I continue to meet with stakeholders about the future of this site and will keep up my advocacy for its future as a community asset. I do not want to see Woodside Barracks used for housing, and according to our residents’ survey, neither do locals.

I remain hopeful of an outcome which will see the site and its facilities enjoyed by the community.
