NBN upgrades fixed wireless towers in Mayo
Posted June 20, 2019
Users of NBN Fixed Wireless technology in parts of the Federal Electorate Mayo may experience brief loss of service in the coming fortnight as NBN Co continues its program of tower upgrades across the electorate.
The work is part of a national $800 million schedule of Fixed Wireless Tower maintenance and upgrades to increase cell capacity and ease congestion in peak times. Individual users are only likely to be affected on their day their tower is being upgraded.
“Congestion on certain NBN towers has been an ongoing problem raised not only with my office but in electorates across Australia, so I was pleased to learn that NBN Co is taking steps to address key sites in Mayo,” Rebekha said.
“I’d like to thank NBN Co for alerting the community about the disruptions, which have the potential to affect residential and business customers.
“NBN Co has advised that these disruptions are ‘potential outages only’ and customers won’t be without internet for the duration of the scheduled works.
“NBN Co gives itself a time period to complete works in case of bad weather and the work itself has to be done during the day because technicians are working at heights.
“I have been advised that these upgrades only affect fixed wireless NBN customers and people are only likely to be affected for short periods of time while work is being done on their particular tower.
“If customers experience ongoing and prolonged disconnections beyond the scheduled works, they need to call their retail service providers in case there are other problems that need to be reported.”
Below is a schedule of outage windows for NBN Co Fixed Wireless Towers. NBN Co advises that this schedule can change due to a number of factors. Residents should contact their service provider if they require further information.
