Memo from Mayo Budget Special

4 Apr 2019

The news today is all about the 2019 Federal Budget so I thought I would give you our first-glance perspective on what this might mean for our community.

Budget details can take some time to unpack but it appears that some measures will assist Mayo’s small business-driven local economy, help young people into apprenticeships and offer opportunities for infrastructure projects across the region thanks to the continuation of major grant programs.

However, not enough is being done to address the burgeoning waiting list for Home Care Packages for older Australians and I am disappointed the budget fails to take meaningful action to address climate change.

You can read my press release with highlights and lowlights here.

You can also my Rebekha's pre-budget speech here.

Centre Alliance has also put out a joint statement on the budget which you can access here.

Rebekha is pictured outside Federal Parliament with her Senate colleagues Stirling Griff, left, and Rex Patrick.
