Local Sporting Champions

Federal Member for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie is pleased to announce that the Mayo’s Local Sporting Champions for Round 2, 2018-19 have been approved by the Australian Sports Commission.

The Local Sporting Champions program is an Australian Government initiative which provides funding assistance to young sportsmen and women who are participating in a state, national or international sporting competition.

"I congratulate all our recipients on their sporting achievements thus far. I am a strong believer in the value of sport to communities, and I wish all our Local Sporting Champions all the best in their competition endeavours," Rebekha said.

"Like most rounds, we had a mix of different sports represented including hockey, cricket, road cycling and sailing."

Recipients for Round 2, 2018-19 included:

Liam Tansell, James Inwood, Alyssa Kelsey, Indiah Kelsey, Tayla Kelsey, Riley Kernot, Eloise Rowe, Emilie Goedecke, Henry Ambagtsheer, Kallen Kernot, Dylan Prior, Jazmin Buchecker, Lucas Mark-Seymour, Emmy Roach, Coell Williams, Cooper Luke, Caterina Amabili, Amber Howie, Eloise Sandow, D'Artagnan Potts, Sophie Miller, Ava Turnbull, Tyson Roberts, Calen McCormick, Kodi Parkinson, Cooper Rogers, Tomas Barry, Abbey Matsen.

Applications are currently open until 11.59pm (AEDT) on 28 February 2019 for Round 3, 2018-19.
