Welcome to the September edition of the grants newsletter.

Below is a compilation of grant highlights, however comprehensive lists of current business and community grants are also available:

If you are a rural business looking for grants or other financial support, Rural Business Support is a leading not-for-profit provider of agribusiness services and independent support for farmers and small business owners in rural areas who are concerned about their financial future.

Celebrate Together Grant

Celebrate Together Grants | Department of the Premier and Cabinet (dpc.sa.gov.au)

Small grants of up to $5,000 and large grants of up to $30,000 are available for minor Facility Development and grants of up to $40,000 for Major Facility Development are available to eligible multicultural organisations for festivals and events to be delivered within 12-months, commencing July 2021. There are matched funding requirements for applicants requesting Large Grants.

Connect Together Grant

Connect Together Grants | Department of the Premier and Cabinet (dpc.sa.gov.au)

Grants of up to $10,000 are available. This grant can be used for one-off funding to eligible multicultural organisations to develop projects that deliver better services and build capacity for COVID-19 response and recovery in the community.

Not for Profit

Digital Donation Program

SA.GOV.AU - Apply for surplus government computers (www.sa.gov.au)

This grant allows community based not-for-profit organisations to apply for surplus government agency computers and laptops through the digital donation program. There is no cost to the organisation for the device itself. However, upgrades and additional equipment are at your organisation’s expense. The maximum amount of devices donated to eligible organisations is 3. The grants requests as much detail as possible is provided on how the organisations intends to use the donated devices. Preference is given to organisations who detail in their application how the use of the devices are going to help others in the South Australian community

Dog and Bone Impact Grants

Grants of up to $20,000 are available. This grant provides pro bono projects to help small Not for Profits (50 staff or less) make the most of their technology. Examples of projects we can support successful applicants with are developing an IT Strategic Roadmap, IT health check and assessment, independent benchmark analysis of IT vendors, building an Intranet and migrating documents, help moving IT infrastructure to the cloud, help finding a new phone system, that allows remote working

Disability Services

The COVID-19 Aged Care Support Program

There is no specific grant amount per application. However there is an overall funding amount of $29 million. The purpose of the grant is to reimburse eligible aged care providers for eligible expenditure incurred on managing direct impacts of COVID-19. The Program will run over 1 year in 2021-22. The Program will assist Residential Aged Care, National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program and Home Care Package providers that are subject to direct COVID-19 impacts, to deliver continuity of safe quality care for consumers.

Family Relationship Services Programme

There is no specific grant amount per application. The purpose of the grant is to improve the wellbeing of Australian families, particularly families with children, who are at risk of separating, or who have separated. Funding is only available for discrete projects which build the capacity of the family law system to assist families who are at risk of separation or have separated. Funding could be sought for activities such as training for staff of the family law services or research into issues relating to family separation.

Education

Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program

The Program contains a range of employer incentives and personal benefit payments to Australian Apprentices. This grant can be used to support projects proposed by individuals and or organisations and or communities who would otherwise be limited by the constraints of other funding programs. Such activities include venue rental for meetings or social events, advertising and marketing costs for events, speaker’s fees, artist’s fees, website maintenance costs, website hosting fees and catering costs for community events.

Grants of up to $2000 are available. This grant provides schools, kindergartens or early childhood settings with projects, activities or ideas that extend their work in achieving reconciliation.

Indigenous Support

National Indigenous Tourism Mentoring Program

RDA Adelaide Hills & Coast Grant Finder (grantguru.com.au)

There is no specific grant amount per application. However there is an overall funding amount of $10 million. The purpose of the grant is to help businesses gain practical advice from industry experts. Specifically it aims to encourage the development of new and expanding Indigenous-owned tourism businesses and community organisations through funding, capability development and facilitating Indigenous tourism sector leadership. Eligible applicants include Indigenous-owned tourism businesses (50% or more Indigenous owned) that operate on a profit or not-for-profit basis.

Applications are currently opening and no end date has been advised.

Research and Innovation Fund • Innovation and Skills

Grants of up to $500,000 are available. This grant supports programs, events and activities that have broad benefit to the start-up community. Funding may support activity that attracts high calibre experts to serve as entrepreneurs-in-residence, attracts accelerator/incubator support funding from the Commonwealth Government and/or the private sector, facilitates startup delegations to visit key investor or customer markets or strengthens entrepreneurship learning and development.

Farming Assistance

National Landcare Program: Smart Farms Smalls Grants: Soil Extension Activities

National Landcare Program: Smart Farms Small Grants: Soil Extension Activities | Community Grants Hub

Grants of up to $250,000 are available. This grant supports soil extension activities that contribute to achieving the program outcomes outlined in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines. These activities will be supported by a National Community of Practice. Performance against program outcomes will be measured through regular reporting and monitoring and evaluation plans.

SA Dairy Industry Fund

Industry Fund | SADA Fresh

There is no specific grant amount per application. This grant supports projects that improve the capacity and resilience of dairy farmers and their communities to manage change and volatility are of interest, including projects that identify smart ways to reduce costs, lift production, soften the impact of dry seasons, and even diversify their enterprises to open up additional sources of revenue.

Regional Tourism

COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Fund – Recovery for Regional Tourism Program (Kangaroo Island)

RDA Adelaide Hills & Coast Grant Finder (grantguru.com.au)

There is no specific grant amount per application. However there is an overall funding amount of $3.5 million. The grant may be used to help create and retain jobs by driving visitation, spurring demand and improving product diversity to attract domestic visitors into the region. This could include developing new marketing strategies and content, developing new tourism products, experiences, festivals or events, support to re-engage with the interstate travel trade or, upgrading visitor information services. Project activity must be completed by 31 May 2022.

Cellar Door Grant

Grants of up to $100,000 are available. This grant can be used to support wine producers who add value by encouraging visitors to wine regions. Wine producers will be able to access an annual grant reflective of their eligible physical cellar door sales.

Pride Foundation Australia – Small Grants Program

Grants of up to $750.00 are available. This grant can be used to support projects proposed by individuals and or organisations and or communities who would otherwise be limited by the constraints of other funding programs. SA COVID-19 Business Support Grants

Grants of up to $3000 are available. This grant can be used to support South Australian small and medium-sized businesses that suffer a significant loss of income or have been forced to close as a result of the restrictions imposed from 20 July 2021. This grant can also be used for businesses whose turnover has declined by 30% or more as a result of the COVID‑19 health restrictions in the week commencing 20 July 2021.

Quick Response Grants

CBF Quick Response Grants

Grants of any amount are available for emergency purposes. However a competitive quote of equipment in excess of $2,000 is considered necessary per application. The funding can be used to support community media organisations experiencing emergencies that risk discontinued transmission or operations, or who have been provided with a time-limited opportunity. To apply for this grant, you will need to provide evidence that this situation could not have been reasonably anticipated prior to the most recent CBF grant round, cannot wait until the next round and cannot be covered by your organisation’s reserves.

Ski for Life Grants

Grants | Ski For Life

There is no specific grant amount per application. Funding can be used for sporting groups that align with the mission of ‘promoting mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention.

Boots for All Community Partner

There is no specific grant amount per application. The grants purpose is to breaks down barriers to sport participation by collecting and distributing quality, new and near-new sporting equipment to vulnerable Australians.

Veterans

Saluting their Service Commemorative Grants

Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program | Community Grants Hub

Grants of up to $10,000 are available for local, community-based projects and activities. This includes, for example, the building of community memorials and the preservation of wartime memorabilia that is significant locally but is not necessarily nationally significant. Major grants between $10,001 and $150,000 are available for major commemorative projects and activities that are significant from a national, state, territory and/or regional perspective.

Applications close 8 February 2022 at 5pm.

The Enterprise Fund

Grants of up to $33,000 are available. These funds can be used by an organisation that works with young people (under 25), females and military veterans. You must be a recognised registered charity or non-profit organisation in accordance with local country governance and laws. The grant is particularly interested in supporting organisations that are currently small but have ambitions to expand, grow and deliver sustainable change. for local, community-based projects and activities.

Youth

Music Innovation Fund

The Grants Hub

There is no specific grant amount per application. However the amount allocated for this fund is $280,000. These funds can be used by Government schools and preschools, as well as music and creative industries and music organisations. The purpose of the grant is to invest in innovative practices, programs, partnerships and pathways that will increase access to quality music education across South Australia.

Community Education Program Grants

Grants of up to $50,000 are available. These funds can be for programs that provide opportunities to develop positive values that lead to healthy lifestyle choices and a positive contribution to our community. The grant can also be used for programs which support youths who are at risk or are already experiencing difficulties (such as drug and/or alcohol abuse) through rehabilitation and/or skills training.

Matana Foundation for Young People

Grants of up to $10,000 are available. These funds can be for programs that focus on improving the welfare and wellbeing of young people from severely disadvantaged or marginalised backgrounds, or whose concerns and issues are not readily funded from other sources.

  • Community Development Grants

Grants of up to $2,500 are available to assist local non-profit community groups and organisations to establish and undertake innovative projects or activities that result in great outcomes for our community.

Applications close on 30 September 2021 at 5pm.

  • Community and Recreation Facility Grants

Grants of up to $10,000 for Minor Facility Development and grants of up to $40,000 for Major Facility Development are available. These can be used by groups who aim to improve or upgrade facilities that will contribute to the development of sport and recreation within the region, are beneficial to the community and improve sustainability.

Applications close on 30 September 2021 at 5pm.

  • Local Heritage Grants

Grants of up to $2,500 or 50% of the total project cost, whichever is the lesser amount, are available. This can be used to reimburse property owners with a proportion of the costs involved in retaining, reinforcing or reinstating the heritage significance of the Adelaide Hills district.

Alexandrina Council

  • Flinders University Rural and Remote Health SA: Community Partnership Grant

Grants of up to $2,000 are available to support projects that benefit eligible rural and regional communities (including communities within the Alexandrina Council Region).

Applications close on Wednesday 24 September 2021 at 5pm.

  • Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal: Strengthening Rural Communities

Grants up to $10,000 are available to give the thousands of small rural, regional and remote communities across Australia an opportunity to access funding to support broad community needs. Grants are available for a broad range of grassroots, community-led initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and assessed quarterly.

Round 11 closes on Tuesday 23 November at 5pm.

  • Budget Direct – Sponsorships Solved

Grants of up to $1,000, $2,500, or $5,000 are available to support organisations who provide local or statewide community services, run community awareness and education programs, promote health and wellbeing (e.g. sports clubs), advocate for road safety, provide emergency services, support in need or at-risk Australians or help build strong, vibrant communities.

Round 1 closes 30 September 2021.

City of Victor Harbor Council

  • Recreation and Sport Small Grants Scheme

Grants of up to $400 for individuals and $1000 for groups are available. These can be used to assist recreation and sport groups and individuals wishing to make a positive contribution to recreation and sport development in the district.

  • Festive Decorations Grants

Grants of up to $5,000 are available to provide the opportunity to decorate the Victor Harbor main street and/or public space to celebrate the festive season. The program will support the following the purchase/creation and installation of outdoor festive decorations such as lighting, Christmas trees, feature decorations, signage and banners that are able to be installed in outdoor public areas, such as main streets, and/or iconic, high visibility areas with Victor Harbor.

District Council of Yankalilla

Grants of up to $2,500 are available to support projects that help the community to continue to adapt, build resilience and engage through the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes community projects, programs, activities or events which encourage the sharing of skills, inclusivity, health and well-being, arts and culture, local and aboriginal history and/or recreation and sport.

Mount Barker District Council

  • Community Grants

Grants of up to $2,500 are available to assist not for profit community groups financial assistance to support high quality activities and projects that provide benefit for the community of the Mount Barker district.

City of Mitcham Council

  • Community Facilities Grant

Grants of up to $5,000 are available to assist not for profit community meet broad community need such as sports and recreation facilities or halls with special or unique capital improvements to their facility or grounds. The project needs to be for a new asset that did not exist beforehand and is not for ongoing maintenance or refurbishment of a facility.

  • Maggy Ragless Memorial Grant

Grants of up to $2,000 for research projects or $3,000 for local history groups are available. The grant seeks to encourage and support original research or projects which inform and educate the community about the City’s local history and or heritage. It also offers groups access to funds to support their work with registration fees and in kind business relative to maintaining local history within the City of Mitcham. The research or project may utilise a range of mediums including a report, publication, educational material, brochure, web page, exhibitions, event, visual art, smart phone app, social media, multimedia displays or a performance.

  • Public Art and Arts Activation Grant

Grants of up to $35,000 for public art large scale projects or $1,000 for smaller projects are available. Public art makes a significant contribution to local identity, helps create and activate vibrant public spaces and assists to build a strong cultural and arts sector for the betterment of the community. Art can be seen as an expression of culture and can include traditional forms such as memorials, monuments, sculptures or murals or more contemporary forms such as sound installations, video or laser projections, text, aerosol art and street banners. It also includes functional objects such as fountains, street furniture, lighting and paving. It may be both permanent and/or temporary.

Applications close on 21 September 2021 at midnight.

  • Quick Response Grant

Grants of up to $500 are available. The Quick Response Grant is available to assist group, individuals and organisations with funding of $500 or under per grant to support initiatives with a turn around time of 30 working days. Community projects or events such as a BBQ, community garden or small Christmas gathering for neighbours are amongst the many initiatives this grant can support.

  • Harvey Hayes Memorial Grant

Grants of up to $1,000 are available. To be eligible you must have attended a secondary school in the City of Mitcham and are enrolled to study with Flinders University. You must further be able to demonstrate you make an active positive contribution to the City of Mitcham. for public art large scale projects or $1,000 for smaller projects are available.

City of Onkaparinga Council

  • Community Grants

Grants of up to $2,000 are available. The grants seeks to encourage community participation, support the advancement of local groups, and build the skills of individuals who are part of local community groups. The grant can be used to assist community groups who have strategically identified training needs for their volunteer community which will enable them to access governance training, development opportunities or undertake conferences.

There is no deadline for applications.

  • Fund Your Dreams Grant

Grants of up to $1,000 are available for organisations and $500 for individuals. To be eligible you must be aged between 8-25, or an organisation that works with that age demographic. The grant must be used to access opportunities that build capacity and foster passion. Examples of such activities include conferences, project work, competitions and leadership programs.

Applications must be received at least 4 weeks before the scheduled activity is to occur.

  • Sport and Active Recreation Grants

Grants of up to $1,500 for groups and $150 for individuals are available. To be eligible the applicant must be competing in an interstate or international competition or travelling intrastate with a distance greater than 250 available for organisations and $500 for There is no deadline for applications.

There is no deadline for applications but the travel must be completed by December 2022.

  • Community Open Round Grants

Grants of up to $2000 are available. This grant provides funding opportunities that aim to foster community participation in a range of initiatives which build capacity, connectedness, wellbeing and a sense of place, and encourage and celebrate our community and cultural life. These grants provide an opportunity for applicant’s whose projects, activities or timing don’t quite fit with some of our other grants to apply for funding. It also offers the chance to showcase potential projects/activities to the wider community and gives the community an opportunity to decide who and what is funded.

Applications close on 14 March 2022 at 12pm.

  • Arts Grants

Grants of up to $3000 are available. The grant provides funding to support local artists/creatives to further develop skills and capacity to exhibit, perform, present and/or sell their work. Examples of eligible activities include working with an artist mentor to develop arts project outcomes, working with industry professionals to develop a broader understanding of the arts industry, develop arts practice, and present and market work professionally.

There is no deadline for applications but the project must be completed by 30 June 2022.

  • Heritage Grants

Grants of up to $7500 are available. The grant provides funding to support the owners of local heritage listed places and representative places to maintain, preserve, restore and/or reconstruct the heritage features of their property. The conservation works must be for the external fabric of the building. And the cost of the works must be a minimum of $1000.
