Federal grant a hit with Lobethal Tennis Club

The Lobethal Tennis Club in the Adelaide Hills is glowing a vibrant shade of blue, thanks to extensive resurfacing of four courts in blue Truflex acrylic, the same colour surface used at Melbourne Park for the Australian Open.The resurfacing was made possible through successful grant funding. The collaboration of funding from Federal, State and Local Government and sports funding bodies including Tennis Australia, has given the Lobethal Tigers the necessary boost to make them one of the most competitive sports clubs in the Adelaide Hills.Federal Member for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie said the courts looked very professional.“You cannot get this level of professionalism unless all levels of the sport and government pull together,” she said.“This project cost just under $48,158.“The State Office of Sport and Rec contributed nearly half with a $24,000 grant.“Tennis SA put in $5000 and Clubs SA contributed $6500.“The Federal Government put in $12,000 through its Stronger Communities Program.“This is a program designed to deliver social benefits through small capital projects in local communities.“The idea is to support projects that improve local community participation and cohesion and promote vibrant and viable communities.“I can see all these aims realised here at the Lobethal Tennis Club and I commend them for their efforts, working together to build something for the future of their club and tennis.”
