The State Government has now joined local and federal governments to get the Mount Barker Sports Hub to the starting line. The $2.5 million will be used to build two artificial soccer pitches for senior and five-a-side matches and a clubhouse at the site as part of State Two.
Stage One includes a football and cricket oval with floodlights, nets, two artificial soccer pitches, a clubhouse, changerooms, showers, facilities for umpires, storage and car parks.
Following advocacy by Rebekha Sharkie MP, the Federal Government will honour an election promise of $3.75 million for the hub, to go with the $4 million from the Mount Barker Council.
