Federal Member for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie will officially open a part-time electorate office in Victor Harbor on Friday, February 3.

The office will be located in the Victor Harbor Council’s district government office at 1 Bay Road, Victor Harbor, and will be open each Friday.

“Having staff at Victor Harbor on Fridays will complement the part-time office we opened late last year in Goolwa on Tuesdays and further cements my campaign promise to have an electorate office presence on the South Coast if elected,” Ms Sharkie, the Hills Nick Xenophon Team MP, said this week.

“I have always believed that Mayo constituents needed a more accessible office on the Fleurieu and investigating options to make that happen was a priority after I was sworn into office late August 2016.

“Unfortunately the Australian Electoral Commission ruled that Mayo wasn’t large enough geographically to warrant funding two offices but I have set aside money within our single office budget to man staff at Goolwa and now Victor Harbor each week.

“I’d like to thank the Victor Harbor Council and the Alexandrina Council for working with my team to make some space available within their facilities to make it easier for residents to visit us in person.

“I look forward scheduling regular visits to the offices around my Federal Parliament commitments in Canberra and work across the electorate.”

Appointments with electorate staff can be booked between 9am and 4pm at the Victor Harbor and Goolwa offices on scheduled opening days.

The Victor Harbor office will be trialled for several months to see if demand warrants further opening hours.
